Dan Trachtenberg's Prey will introduce audiences not only to a new time period for the sci-fi action horror franchise, but also a new Predator! In true Predator movie fashion the new Yautja hunter has been given a new official name to match its unique new appearance!
Dubbed the Feral Predator, Trachtenberg elaborated on his film's new antagonistic alien hunter, saying the following during a new interview with ComicBook(.com):
I think our Predator in my mind, not only does he exist, you know, 300 years before, but I think in sci-fi movie terms, time moves very slowly. If the way that Star Wars functions or even Star Trek, you know, it’s like 300 years. Ships aren’t suddenly like so different. But I think this guy’s perhaps from a different hemisphere of the planet and a little bit of a different breed. So even his look is a little new, it’s familiar, but new. So I’m excited for people, even for diehard fans, to really see something they hadn’t seen before.
It's quite clear the aesthetic of Prey's new Feral Predator is quite different to its predecessor Predator designs, sporting a more primal looking armor and sporting more primitive style weaponry. As we learn more about this new Yautja, we'll be sure to keep you posted!
